On completion of the course, delegates should:

  • be able to interpret plans, sections and elevations
  • be familiar with key architectural conventions & symbols used on drawings
  • be able to read to scale
  • understand how to work with drawings received by email (PDFs)
  • be aware of where space standards come from – which are compulsory and which good practice
  • have awareness of essential standards, such as wheelchair turning spaces
  • be better able to measure individuals in relation to key adaptations e.g. assess for doorway widths, turning circles, worktop heights, corridor widths and lift car dimensions
  • have experience of assessing a wheelchair scheme for its accessibility
