PLEASE NOTE:
The majority of wheelchair standards and regulations referenced in this course are England-based.

 

This course focuses on design issues for new-build wheelchair housing. It explores a wide range of generic design standards & signposts delegates to useful further guidance. It also overviews essential elements of the Approved Document M, Volume 1, Category 3 (Wheelchair Housing) (England) - 2015 edition - such as bedroom sizes, furniture requirements & wheelchair storage/transfer spaces and it references Design Templates usable in new wheelchair dwellings.
 
 
Please note, there is a 'sister' course to this one entitled "Adaptation Issues for Wheelchair Users". In that course, the focus is more on adaptation issues for existing housing than on generic design standards.
